Taxicab Operator's Permit FAQ's

Q. What do I need to bring with me to submit a taxi application?
A: You must provide a valid Nebraska driver's license from any county in the State of Nebraska. Or, if your driver's license is issued in Iowa, it can only be from Pottawattamie County. You must also bring two current (taken within the last six months) passport size photos.

Q. What do I do after I have made the application with the Omaha Police?
A: You will then be required to get a physical by your private physician or your company physician. The doctor will be required to sign the back of the application.

Q. What then?
A: You must take the application to Permits and Inspections on the 11th floor of the Omaha Douglas County Civic Center at 18th and Farnam. Permits and Inspections will then do the final processing and actually issue the permit

Q. Is there any cost involved?
A: There is no cost for the Omaha Police to take the application. Permits and Inspections will require a $4.00 fee for a new permit. If you already hold a permit and wish to renew it, there is a cost of $3.00 prior to the expiration date.
