The Omaha Police Department, in partnership with our community, provides impartial, ethical, and professional law enforcement service and protection. We strive to maintain the trust and confidence or our citizens while working to improve the quality of life. Our vision is to provide the environment for the Omaha Police Department and the volunteer C.O.P.S. program that results in a reduction of crime and fear of crime, maximum efficiency, enhanced customer service, improved public confidence, and personal and professional growth.

The Omaha Police Department is looking for self-motivated individuals who are interested in criminal justice, sociology, business, computer science, geography, journalism or aviation and who wish to develop their skills within a volunteer program with flexible hours. The volunteer can expect from the Omaha Police Department:

Call (402) 444-3598, email, or write Shelly Fogarty, Coordinator of Volunteers, at the Omaha Police Department, 10245 Wiesman Drive, Omaha NE 68134 to request an information packet that will include a Volunteer Application Form, Volunteer Agreement Form, Volunteer Statement of Confidentiality and Waiver Form, Emergency Data Sheet, and Identification Badge Request. To become a volunteer an individual must be at least 19 years of age.

Upon return of the completed application, reference checks, a criminal history background check, and a personal interview are conducted for all volunteer applicants. Volunteer assignments are based on skills, talents, and interests.
